What to expect

Titas Halder’s Darkling is set in Bhopal in 1984 and follows a girl who grows up beside a giant factory rising over her town, until the night that tears everything apart. The Bush calls it a ferocious, brutal and damning story of a life ravaged by ecological disaster. Matthew Xia directs and Linnea Berthelsen, known for Stranger Things, stars. It is a Bush Theatre and Actors Touring Company co-production, and it tours the UK after the London run.

Worth knowing

It runs 1 hour 30 minutes in the Holloway Theatre, the Bush’s main space, until 24 October, with evening performances at 7.30pm and matinees at 2.30pm on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Tickets are £15 to £35. The theatre’s age guidance is 14 and over, and it publishes a self-care guide and content warnings, which are worth reading first given the subject. Prices, times and availability were read off the Bush’s own booking page on 29 September 2026.
