Tate Modern: late opening
Tate Modern now stays open to nine every Friday and Saturday, free, which turns the Turbine Hall into the best free evening on the South Bank.

What to expect
October’s first Friday late, with the evenings drawing in enough that the building is lit when you arrive.
The collection displays are free and stay open along with the building, so a late visit costs nothing unless you want the ticketed exhibition. The Turbine Hall is the room to be in after dark, and the viewing level at the top of the Blavatnik building is one of the few free high views in London.
Cross the Millennium Bridge on the way out rather than the way in; the view is the right way round.
Nearby
South Bank has the nearest stations and everything else on in the same part of town. The Tate Modern page collects every listing we hold for that address. Filed under Exhibitions.
