Leadenhall Market

A Victorian covered market in cream and burgundy, free to walk through and open to the street. Busy with the City at lunch and almost empty at the weekend, which is when to photograph it.

Directions

What to expect

An early Friday under the painted ironwork, before the City fills it at six.

Cream and maroon Victorian ironwork over cobbles, on a site that has held a market since the fourteenth century. There is not much to buy any more; it is a place to walk through and look up. Dead at the weekend, which is when it photographs best and when the pubs are shut.

Gracechurch Street, between Bank and Monument, and a couple of minutes from either.

Nearby

The City has the nearest stations and everything else on in the same part of town. The Leadenhall Market page collects every listing we hold for that address. Filed under Food and drink.

Listed by Angela. Checked 8 September 2026. Details can change on the night; the venue link is the one to trust.
