Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Jam

The open session, and the least predictable thing the club puts on. London’s players turn up with instruments and sit in, so the band on stage at one in the morning is not the band that started. It is also the cheapest way into the building all week.

This is the main club downstairs. The Late Late Show is a separate ticket from the evening show and a different room to be in: a DJ plays before and after the band, and the crowd is a mix of people who have been there all night and people who have just arrived. Doors 23:15, music from around midnight to two, doors close at three.

Frith Street, Soho. Leicester Square and Tottenham Court Road are both a few minutes away, and the Night Tube runs on the Piccadilly and Central lines on Friday and Saturday nights.
