Where can you see free comedy in London?

Angel Comedy at the Camden Head runs free stand up seven nights a week at half seven, with no ticket. Top Secret off Drury Lane starts at a pound. Between them they cover most nights of the year, which is why London comedy is a good deal cheaper than its reputation suggests.

The genuinely free one

Angel Comedy at the Camden Head on Camden Walk in Islington puts on free stand up every night of the week at half seven. There is no ticket and no booking; you turn up and there is a bucket at the end.

The nearly free one

Top Secret Comedy Club on Drury Lane runs every night but Sunday, with shows starting between six and eight, and tickets from a pound.

What the ticketed clubs charge

The Bill Murray, Angel Comedy’s ticketed room on Queen’s Head Street, runs three shows a night at 18.30, 20.00 and 21.30. The Comedy Store on Oxendon Street starts at half seven most nights, with two shows on a Saturday at 18.30 and 21.30. Its King Gong open mic on the last Monday of the month is from twelve pounds.
