Directions

What to expect

Sting’s own musical docks at Drury Lane for twelve days from Tuesday 22 September, with the man himself on stage at every performance as Jackie White, the shipyard foreman whose health fails just as his yard needs him. It is rooted in Sting’s childhood in Wallsend, and the songs woven through it include Island of Souls, All This Time and When We Dance.

Worth knowing

This is a new staging rather than a revival of the 2018 tour: a new book by Barney Norris, direction by Leo Warner, set and video design by 59 Studio, and a company of more than fifty. Shaggy co-stars as the Wallsend Ferryman for two nights only, Tuesday 22 and Wednesday 23 September, and Lejaun Sheppard takes the part from Thursday 24 September to the end of the run on 3 October.

Tickets start at £19.50 with no booking fee when you book through the theatre, and every price includes a £1.70 restoration levy. It runs two hours fifty minutes. Children under four are not admitted and anyone fifteen or under has to sit next to an adult. The show carries flashing lights, haze, fire and loud sound effects.

The evening pattern and the matinees come from the Official London Theatre booking feed rather than the theatre’s own page, which does not print curtain times, so check your own ticket. Covent Garden and Holborn are both about five minutes on foot.

Nearby

Covent Garden has the nearest stations and everything else on in the same part of town. The Theatre Royal Drury Lane page collects every listing we hold for that address. Filed under Theatre.
