Directions

What to expect

Ed O’Brien’s second solo record, Blue Morpho, gets its London night in the Barbican Hall, played by the musicians who recorded it with David Okumu as musical director. The Barbican describes it as psych folk, guitars and trip hop, with a band that takes its cue from Sly and the Family Stone, Miles Davis and Phish, which tells you this will stretch out rather than run the album in order.

Worth knowing

Okumu plays first at 19.30, and O’Brien is due on at about 20.20 after the interval. Standard tickets from £29, which is £25 plus a £4 transaction fee; Young Barbican members aged 16 to 25 pay £18. The show uses haze and strobe. Checked against the Barbican’s own event page on 11 October 2026.
