What to expect
London Month of the Dead is a month of walks, talks, workshops and performances about mortality and the city, from the first of October to the first of November, and it goes to the places the subject lives: the Magnificent Seven cemeteries, their chapels and their catacombs.
The first week
It opens on Thursday 1 October with Monuments by Moonlight, a torchlit walk with storytelling through West Norwood Cemetery, from £22. Saturday has guided tours of Tower Hamlets Cemetery at £16.50, one of them on the women buried there, and a morning behind the scenes at T Cribb and Son, one of London’s oldest family funeral directors. On Sunday you can go down into the long sealed catacombs beneath Kensal Green’s Anglican Chapel, from £22, and in the evening hear Lovecraft’s The Call of Cthulhu read in the Dissenters Chapel.
Worth knowing
Every event is booked on its own, and the workshops, such as bat skeleton mounting or insect setting, cost a good deal more than the walks. Events do sell out, and the programme runs all the way to Halloween and beyond. Our Halloween guide has the rest of the month.
The events, dates and prices were read on the festival’s own booking page on 27 September 2026.
