Directions

What to expect

Kenneth MacMillan made Manon in 1974 and it has been one of The Royal Ballet’s signature pieces ever since: Massenet’s music, Nicholas Georgiadis’s designs, and a girl in eighteenth century Paris pulled between the student Des Grieux and the money of the men around him. Nothing in it is softened, which is why it still lands fifty years on.

Worth knowing

About 2 hours 45 minutes with two intervals. The house suggests ages 14 and over: there are scenes of a sexual nature, including stylised sexual violence, and a gunshot in Act II. Tickets run from £9 to £207, the cheapest being Young RBO prices on selected performances, and the house lists cast changes on 22 and 26 October. Checked against the Royal Ballet and Opera’s own production page and its performance list on 18 October 2026.

Nearby

Covent Garden has the nearest stations and everything else on in the same part of town. The Royal Opera House page collects every listing we hold for that address. Filed under Theatre.
