Ronnie Scott’s: Late Late Show with Leo Richardson

Leo Richardson is a tenor player in the hard bop tradition, and his sessions are the most straight-ahead thing in the late programme.

This is the main club downstairs. The Late Late Show is a separate ticket from the evening show and a different room to be in: a DJ plays before and after the band, and the crowd is a mix of people who have been there all night and people who have just arrived. Doors 23:15, music from around midnight to two, doors close at three.

Soho empties late and the walk to Tottenham Court Road takes five minutes. Outside the Night Tube nights it is a bus or a cab, because the last trains go long before the room does.
