Directions

What to expect

East Berlin, 1984: a playwright and his actress partner are put under surveillance, and the Stasi officer listening from the attic above their flat starts to care more about their lives than his report. Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck’s film won the Oscar for best foreign language film; this is the first time it has been put on stage, written and directed by Robert Icke, the director behind Oedipus and Oresteia.

Keira Knightley, Stephen Dillane and Luke Thompson lead. This week is the first week of the run, four evenings from Wednesday.

Worth knowing

From £25 with no booking fee when booked direct, including a £2 restoration levy. Recommended for 14 and over: the production deals with sexual coercion and suicide. The running time is not yet published. Checked against LW Theatres’ own page for the show on 11 October 2026.

Nearby

Covent Garden has the nearest stations and everything else on in the same part of town. The Adelphi Theatre page collects every listing we hold for that address. Filed under Theatre.
