Where the River Holds Us at Two Temple Place

Helen Epega, who records as The Venus Bushfires, has written a new multisensory opera about the Thames as a living archive, and it is staged inside Two Temple Place, which is the draw on its own. Astor’s neo-Tudor house on the Embankment is shut for most of the year, so an hour of music in it is an hour in a building most Londoners have only ever walked past.

The piece

It blends music, storytelling, audience participation and accessible creative technology, and it was made in response to the building and the river outside it rather than dropped into them. Runs are an hour.

When and how much

Two performances on Sunday 27 September, 4.30 to 5.30 and 6.30 to 7.30, then one on Monday the 28th from 7 to 8. General admission is £20, supporters £25 and concessions £12. Temple is the station, and Embankment pier is a short walk if you are coming by river.
