Student nights in London: the freshers wristbands, and what the clubs will not tell you
UCL's autumn 2026 wristband sold six nights at Fabric, Ministry of Sound and Egg for £50. Most commercial student nights publish no door price at all.

Try to find out what a London student night costs at the door and you will mostly fail. The clubs name the night, the promoter names the DJ, and the price appears at the point of sale or not at all. The one part of student nightlife that publishes real numbers is the university, and in autumn 2026 the numbers were good.
The UCL wristband
UCL’s students’ union sold its autumn 2026 Nightlife Wristband at £50 for six nights, which it put at around £70 less than buying them separately, with no booking fees and separate entry queues at Fabric and Ministry of Sound. The queue is not a small detail on a freshers Tuesday at Fabric.
The six nights ran from 27 September to 5 October 2026: Ministry of Sound at both ends, with Scala, Fabric, Egg and the Electric Ballroom between them. All six have now happened. The union puts each year’s wristband on sale ahead of freshers, usually in late summer, and the 2027 dates and price go on this page when it publishes them. Checked 6 October 2026.

Those were five of the better rooms in London rather than the student-night end of the market, which was the argument for the wristband, and it is the thing to look for when the next one goes on sale. Ministry of Sound and Fabric on a normal Saturday will cost most of £50 between them for two nights, let alone six.
What the commercial nights publish
The Roxy in Soho runs five club nights a week: Roxy Tuesdays, D.A.N.C.E Wednesdays, Echo Thursdays, Key Club Fridays and Don’t You Want Me Baby Saturdays. It publishes no student entry price. What it does publish is the happy hour, and that is the reliable saving.
Tuesday to Friday from 5pm to 8.30pm, and until 10.30pm on Saturday: £3.50 for a beer, a spirit and mixer or a glass of wine, and £5 for a large wine or a double. Two cocktails for £13 and two bottled beers for £5.
How to read a student night
The door price is the part that moves and the part nobody commits to in public, so treat any figure you find on a listings site as a guess. The drinks pricing and the happy hour windows are published, fixed and worth more over an evening than the fiver you might save at the door. Arrive inside the happy hour and the entry price stops being the number that matters.
