Valentine’s Day in London 2027: romantic restaurants, date ideas and what is on
14 February 2027 is a Sunday, which moves the weekend onto the 12th and 13th. Where to book, what to do instead of dinner, and when the good tables actually go.

Valentine’s Day 2027 falls on Sunday 14 February. That one fact decides the whole weekend, and it is worth knowing in January rather than the week before.
Why the Sunday changes everything
London restaurants take their Valentine’s trade on the Friday and Saturday nights before, because that is when people can go out and stay out. Expect set menus and a premium on 12 and 13 February, then a quieter and shorter service on the Sunday itself, with a good many kitchens closing early or not opening at all. If you want the day rather than the weekend, book somewhere that genuinely trades on a Sunday evening and check the last sitting before you book it.
Romantic restaurants, and when the tables go
The tables people compete for are gone in January. Anywhere with a tasting menu, a view or fewer than forty covers opens its Valentine’s books as soon as its window allows, which for most London restaurants is one to three months ahead. Leave it to February and you are choosing from the second sitting at half past nine.
The reliable categories, in rough order of how far ahead they go: rooms with a river or skyline view, small chef’s counters, anything with a Michelin star, hotel dining rooms, and the Soho and Covent Garden pre theatre slots. A weekday in the week after is a better dinner than a set menu on the night, if the date is negotiable.
Date ideas that are not dinner
Dinner is the expensive and least available option, and it is not the only one. The late museum openings run through February and cost nothing. The Sky Garden and the Horizon 22 viewing floors are free but need booking well ahead. A walk along the South Bank from Westminster to Tower Bridge takes an hour and is at its best after dark in winter. Theatre, comedy and the smaller music rooms all have availability when every restaurant is full, and a show followed by a drink is a better evening than a rushed early sitting.
If you want the cheap version: the parks are free, the galleries are free, and a walk finishing in a good pub costs a fraction of a set menu and is quieter company.
What else is on that weekend
There is no dedicated Valentine’s programme in the city, so the weekend runs on the ordinary February listings: theatre, late openings, comedy and the usual Saturday. February half term is often close by, which fills the daytime attractions and leaves the evening ones alone.
The practical bits
Sunday transport is what people forget. The tube runs a reduced service, February Sundays carry more engineering work than most nights, and the last trains are earlier than on a Saturday. Check the route home before you go out rather than after.

Questions people ask
What day is Valentine's Day 2027?
Sunday 14 February 2027, which moves most of the restaurant trade onto Friday 12 and Saturday 13.
Where should I book for Valentine's Day in London?
Rooms with a view, small chef's counters, hotel dining rooms and the pre theatre slots in Soho and Covent Garden are the categories that go first. Whatever you choose, book it in January: by February you are choosing from late sittings.
Should I book the Saturday or the Sunday?
Most London restaurants run their Valentine's service on the Friday and Saturday because that is where the trade is. The Sunday is quieter and many kitchens close early, so check the restaurant actually trades on a Sunday evening before booking the day itself.
What are some romantic things to do in London that are not dinner?
The late museum openings run through February and are free. Sky Garden and Horizon 22 are free viewing floors but need booking ahead. A South Bank walk after dark takes an hour. Theatre, comedy and the smaller music venues all have seats when the restaurants are full.
Is there anything free to do on Valentine's Day?
Plenty. The galleries and the parks cost nothing, the free viewing floors are the best view in the city, and a walk ending in a good pub costs a fraction of a set menu.
When do Valentine's bookings open?
One to three months ahead for most London restaurants, so the tables worth having are taken during January.
What about getting home on the Sunday?
A reduced Sunday tube service with earlier last trains, and February Sundays carry more engineering work than most nights. Check before you go out.
Every listing on this page is checked against the venue's own page and the page is rewritten each year, usually six to eight weeks before the dates. Times and prices can change on the night; the venue link on each event is the one to trust. How we choose what goes in.
