Hampton Court’s Halloween is included in admission, and it is not a scare event

A correction, and a useful one if you have children.

A Tudor palace in autumn

We got this wrong and are fixing it in public, because the mistake is one a lot of people will make.

Hampton Court’s Halloween is not a separately ticketed after-dark trail running alongside Kew’s from 16 October. It runs 24 October to 1 November, it happens in daytime, and it is included in normal palace admission with no separate ticket. Members go free without booking.

Costumed interpretation and family trails through the state apartments, rather than actors jumping out at you in the dark.

That makes it the option for children who would hate the after-dark trails, and it means there is nothing to sell out and no ticket release to set a reminder for.

Kew is the other proposition entirely: 16 October to 1 November, after dark, ticketed, adults from twenty three pounds and children from seventeen, with slots in three grades from daylight to moonlight. That one does sell out at weekends.

Both are corrected in our Halloween guide and in the listings.
