Bloomsbury Festival: Radical Bloomsbury at the British Library

A guided walk of Bloomsbury's abolitionists and dissenters, from the British Library steps, 10 pounds.

This has been and gone. It ran on Saturday 3 October 2026. For what is on now, see tonight or this week. See also everything that has been and gone.

The festival lists this walk on 3 and 11 October, both at 11.00, starting outside the British Library.

What to expect

Bloomsbury is sold as a literary neighbourhood, and this walk goes at the other history: abolitionists, scientific dissenters and reformers who worked the streets rather than the drawing rooms. It is led by an urban geographer who is also an accredited Camden guide, and it reads the buildings as it goes.

An hour and a half, starting outside the British Library on Euston Road. The festival lists it twice, on 3 and 11 October, both at 11.00.

Nearby

King's Cross has the nearest stations and everything else on in the same part of town. The The British Library page collects every listing we hold for that address. Filed under Talks.
