Directions

What to expect

Inner Voice Theatre Company, founded in Bristol in 2025, brings its comic stage version of the Sherlock Holmes classic to Upper Street for six performances. Three actors play fourteen parts between them, in the adaptation by Steven Canny and John Nicholson, directed by Steven Clarke. It first played at Bristol’s Tobacco Factory Theatres in April 2026, and this run marks 125 years since the story was first published in the Strand Magazine.

Worth knowing

The King’s Head lists it for ages 8 and up, runs about 90 minutes and carries content notes for mild horror themes, swearing, references to death and murder, moments of suspense, smoke effects and flashing lights. The theatre is at 116 Upper Street, N1 1QP. Tickets are £22 standard and £15 concession, which the company gave us: the King’s Head page shows only its members’ rates, so check there for those.
