Directions

What to expect

The largest Christmas event in Britain, taking the north east corner of Hyde Park from November to January: a funfair with genuinely serious rides, an ice rink, a Bavarian beer hall, a circus and several hundred wooden chalets.

Worth knowing

Entry is timed and booked in advance even when it is free, and everything inside costs money on top: rides, the rink, the shows. Weekday afternoons are the only quiet slots. It is enormous, so decide what you actually came for rather than walking the whole thing. Under-tens will want the rink and the smaller fair rather than the big ones.

Getting there

Hyde Park Corner and Marble Arch are the nearest, and both are heaving after dark. Green Park and a walk across is the calmer arrival. The Mayfair page has the rest of what is on nearby. Everything we list at this address is on the Hyde Park page.
