Mudlarking Exhibition at London Museum Docklands

Thousands of things pulled out of the Thames, with the mudlarks who found them standing behind the tables. Free.

This has been and gone. It ran on Saturday 26 September 2026 to Sunday 27 September 2026. For what is on now, see tonight or this week. See also everything that has been and gone.

Free and nothing to book, both days, 10am to 5pm. This is a Totally Thames weekend takeover, not the museum's permanent display.

Directions

What to expect

Two days of the Thames foreshore brought indoors. Mudlarks lay out thousands of objects they have pulled out of the mud and stand behind the tables to tell you what each one is, which is the part that makes it worth the trip: you can hold things and ask where they came from, and the answers are better than a label.

Where it happens

The setting helps. London Museum Docklands is a Georgian warehouse on West India Quay that was built to store goods arriving from around the world, so the building and the objects are telling roughly the same story from different ends. Arts and crafts activities run alongside for children.

Worth knowing

It is free and there is nothing to book, both days, 10am to 5pm. West India Quay on the DLR is a two minute walk and Canary Wharf on the Elizabeth line and Jubilee is about seven. Canary Wharf Pier is the river option.

Dates, hours and free entry were read on the Totally Thames programme page for the event on 24 September 2026.

Nearby

Canary Wharf has the nearest stations and everything else on in the same part of town. The London Museum Docklands page collects every listing we hold for that address. Filed under Exhibitions.
