New Year’s Day Parade

Ten thousand performers from Piccadilly down to Parliament Square, free to watch from the pavement. Grandstand seats are ticketed; standing anywhere along the route is not.

Confirmed by the organisers: the 2027 parade starts at 1pm on 1 January.

Directions

What to expect

Ten thousand performers from around the world along a two mile route from Piccadilly to Parliament Square: marching bands, cheerleaders, vintage vehicles and the London boroughs competing for a prize nobody outside the parade has heard of.

Worth knowing

Free from the pavement, ticketed for the grandstand seats. In 2027 it starts at 1pm, which is a civilised hour given the night before. The far end at Parliament Square is far less crowded than Piccadilly and you see exactly the same thing an hour later.

Getting there

Green Park, Piccadilly Circus and Westminster are the stations along it. Nothing much else in London is open, so it is the day’s event rather than part of one.

Nearby

Mayfair has the nearest stations and everything else on in the same part of town. Filed under Seasonal.
