Parliament Hill London: what's on

The north end of Hampstead Heath, open grass rising to a view of the City and the West End that is protected in law, so nothing can be built to block it. The bathing ponds are below on the eastern side, the lido at the southern edge, and the hill itself is where London watches fireworks.

  1. Free

    Parliament Hill viewpoint

    07:00 Hampstead

A protected view all the way to the City, which is why nothing is allowed to be built in front of it. Ten minutes up from Gospel Oak and worth doing an hour before sunset.

  2. Free

    Stargazing on Hampstead Heath

    20:00 Hampstead

As dark as central London gets, which is not very, but Parliament Hill has the horizon and the local society runs public evenings on the hill through the winter. Take a torch and a coat.
