Directions

What to expect

The Design Museum’s NIGO retrospective closes on Sunday 4 October, so this is its last week. It is the first museum show of his work outside Japan and the first in the UK: more than 700 objects covering thirty years, from A Bathing Ape in the nineties to his current role as artistic director of KENZO, with vintage clothing and traditional crafts from his own collection alongside.

What to look for

A recreation of NIGO’s teenage bedroom, ceramics he threw himself, and a life size glass tea house made for the exhibition. The thread through it is how one person moved between streetwear, luxury fashion, hip hop and Japanese craft without treating any of them as the lesser one.

Tickets and times

Adults from £15.29, concessions from £11.47 and children from £7.65; members go free. The museum is open ten until five from Monday to Thursday and until six from Friday to Sunday, and it takes card and digital payments only. High Street Kensington is the nearest station.

Dates, prices and hours were read on the Design Museum’s own exhibition page on 27 September 2026. This listing began as a London Fashion Week City Wide entry for 17 to 21 September; the exhibition itself runs longer, and the listing now says so.

Nearby

Kensington has the nearest stations and everything else on in the same part of town. The Design Museum page collects every listing we hold for that address. Filed under Exhibitions.
