London Craft Week runs for a week in mid May. The 2027 dates have not been published yet, so these follow the usual pattern and will be replaced when the organiser announces them.

London Craft Week 2027: what is on, and how much of it is free

Around two hundred events across the city in one week in May, most of them free, from open workshops to demonstrations you would normally never see.

A maker at work in a workshop

A week in mid May, across the whole city, and most of it free. More than a thousand makers, designers and galleries open up, with a programme of around two hundred events: demonstrations, open studios, talks, and workshops where somebody who has done a thing for thirty years shows you how it is done.

Where it clusters

It is genuinely spread out, which is the point and also the difficulty. Mayfair and St James’s carry the galleries and the luxury houses, Clerkenwell the workshops and the design studios, and South Kensington the museums and schools. Pick an area and do it properly rather than crossing London twice in a day.

What it costs

The great majority of the programme is free to attend. Hands-on workshops, where you make something and take it home, are usually ticketed and usually small, so those are the ones to book the day the programme goes live.

Worth knowing

The programme is published a few weeks before and is searchable by discipline and by neighbourhood. Many of the open studios are places that are not open at any other time of year, which is the argument for going even if craft is not your subject.

Dates and events for 2027 go in as venues confirm them. The guide above is what we know so far; it is rewritten as the list fills.

Questions people ask

When is London Craft Week 2027?

A week in mid May. The 2027 dates have not been announced, so ours follow the usual pattern and will be replaced when the organiser publishes.

Is London Craft Week free?

Most of it. The bulk of the programme, including demonstrations, open studios and talks, costs nothing. Hands-on workshops are usually ticketed.

Where does it take place?

All over London rather than at one venue. The heaviest concentrations are Mayfair and St James's, Clerkenwell, and South Kensington.

Do I need to book?

Not for most of it. Book anything where you make something yourself, because those are small and go quickly.

Is it worth going if I am not in the trade?

Yes. A good deal of it is workshops and studios that are closed to the public every other week of the year.

Every listing on this page is checked against the venue's own page and the page is rewritten each year, usually six to eight weeks before the dates. Times and prices can change on the night; the venue link on each event is the one to trust. How we choose what goes in.
