Vaulty Towers: the Waterloo pub furnished with theatre props

A pub near Waterloo decorated with original props from The Vaults Theatre, open seven days, with DJs from Wednesday to Saturday and no door charge.

A DJ playing to a busy bar

Vaulty Towers is a pub near Waterloo that is furnished out of a theatre’s prop store, and it is the closest thing London has to a set you can drink in.

Checked on the venue’s own site on 9 September 2026. It sits in SE1 7RG, between Waterloo station and the Leake Street Arches, which is the graffiti tunnel under the platforms.

The props are the actual point

The rooms are decorated with original props from The Vaults Theatre, the venue in the tunnels next door, which is why the place looks unlike any other pub and why no two corners of it match. It calls itself London’s quirkiest pub and, for once, the claim is doing some work.

It is one of three venues the same people run around Waterloo, so the theatrical streak is not an accident of decoration.

DJs Wednesday to Saturday, and no entry charge

This is the part that matters for an evening. DJs run from Wednesday to Saturday and entry is free. In central London, a late bar with music and no door charge is not common, and near a mainline station it is rarer still.

The venue’s own description of the split is a fair one: easygoing by day, cocktails, craft beer and food, and then something considerably less predictable at night. Open seven days.

The basement, for a group

There is a basement available for private hire, which is the room to ask about for a birthday or a large group rather than trying to hold a table upstairs on a Friday. Enquiries go through the pub directly.

What else is on that side of the river

Leake Street Arches is a two minute walk and is free, legal graffiti in a tunnel, and it is the obvious thing to do before rather than after. Waterloo covers what else is on nearby and the South Bank is the next stretch along.

After dark lists what is still running when this shuts, and best bars in London covers the rest of the category.
