St Paul's Cathedral London: what's on
Wren's cathedral, rebuilt after the Great Fire and finished in 1711, and still the building the City arranges itself around. Sightseeing takes you through the nave and down into the crypt, where Wren, Nelson and Wellington are buried, and then up if your legs are willing: 257 steps to the Whispering Gallery, 528 to the Golden Gallery and the best free-standing view in London at the top. Services are free to attend and are the way in if you would rather hear the place than tour it. Stairs only to the galleries, and no cloakroom, so travel light.
- HoursMonday to Saturday for sightseeing, doors 8.30, last entry usually 16.00 and sightseeing ends half an hour later. Sundays are services only, though the Dome Galleries open 15 March to 25 October 2026.
- AdmissionFree for services. Sightseeing 27 pounds adult, 10.50 child, free for disabled visitors.
