Where can you watch fireworks on Bonfire Night in London?
Most London displays are on the Saturday nearest the fifth, not on the fifth itself, which is the single thing most people get wrong. Alexandra Palace, Battersea Park and Wimbledon Park are ticketed; Blackheath is free and enormous.
The date trap
Guy Fawkes Night is the fifth of November, but the large organised displays are almost all on the nearest Saturday, because that is when people can come. Check the date of the specific display rather than assuming the fifth.
Free or ticketed
Blackheath is free, on open heath, with one of the biggest crowds in south London and barely any barriers. Alexandra Palace is ticketed and has the whole city behind the fireworks, which is the reason to pick it. Battersea Park is ticketed and the easiest to leave, with three stations in walking distance.
Getting home
Everything empties at once. If you are at a ticketed display, the walk to the second nearest station is almost always faster than the queue at the first.
